BIO
I am the Industry Engagement Manager for the Climate Change Cluster (C3) research institute, in the Faculty of Science. Formerly a Faculty Research Engagement Manager (Science), and a subject coordinator and lecturer in the Faculty of Science.
With experience working in marine ecology research, tertiary teaching, project management, and industry engagement, I enjoy applying my science communication skills to develop and build relationships and opportunities. I have a demonstrated success with working in large and small team environments, and in collaboration with stakeholders, as well as government and private organisations.
I am extremely passionate about scientific education, having taught in over 15 undergraduate subjects, and am involved in a number of projects focusing on community engagement and the first year experience within University settings. I have led creative science engagement projects such as the “Living Lights” algae-filled installation for Vivid Sydney (2018), and the "Deep Green Forest" tent activation at Splendour in the Grass (2019), and am an advocate for developing the career paths of young scientists.
Through the Deep Green Biotech Hub, I spearheaded the world’s first dedicated algae accelerator program - joining biotechnology and entrepreneurship, and creating opportunities for STEM-preneurs across NSW to accelerate algae innovation and engage with science.
I am a member of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography, the World Seagrass Association, a mentor for undergraduate science students, and an advocate for developing the career paths of young scientists. I have received a number of awards for conference presentations, teaching, and public engagement programs.
