Alisa is a Senior Lecturer in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum within the DVC Education Portfolio at the University of Technology Sydney. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and is currently leading the Development, Reward and Recognition project at UTS to build greater alignment between professional learning, teaching quality and AdvanceHE Fellowships.

Alisa coordinates and teaches subjects within the Graduate Certificate of Higher Education Teaching and Learning and leads the Enhancing Teaching@UTS Program.

Alisa has a particular interest in the power of social learning, concepts of inclusion and diversity, and relational and affective pedagogy in the university setting. Alisa co-convenes the national Social Learning Leaders Network and was formerly co-convenor of the Professional and Higher Education SIG of the Australian Association for Research in Education.

Alisa is an experienced advocate for inclusive educational practice, and a passionate advocate for social justice. Her PhD draws on Foucauldian concepts of governmentality, genealogy and archeaology to compare - conceptually, empirically and philosophically - the subject of higher education, notions of difference and diversity, and their historical implications for personal and professional identity and ethical practice. From 2014 - 2021, Alisa was Senior Editor at the Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice, and today she is Editor in Chief of the newly established diamond open access Australasian Journal of Higher Education.
