Allison Silink is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law, having previously worked in the School of Private and Commercial Law at UNSW. Allison is an award-winning teacher specialising in private law and teaches in a range of private law subjects in the LLB and JD including the core subjects Equity and Trusts, and Introduction to Property and Commercial Law, and the elective Commercial Equity and has also delivered guest lectures in Advanced Trusts, Elder Law and Advanced Torts.

Associate Professor Silink is a practising barrister admitted in New South Wales, having been called to the bar in 1997. She has a general commercial law practice with experience in advice and litigation in the areas of equity and trusts, torts and contracts, corporations law, insolvency and superannuation. Between 1994-1997 she was the associate to Justice Sheppard AO in the Federal Court of Australia.

Allison's teaching, research and practice focus on the intersection of equity, common law and statute in in the resolution of disputes by the courts and issues of law reform. She has particular interest in the overlap of different private law doctrines and remedies that arise in the context of banking and finance law, corporations law and insolvency, and the commercial use of trusts, such as in superannuation, and in financial services and insurance. Allison also has expertise in the law addressing institutional liability, particularly the means by which institutions can be made liable for child sexual abuse. She regularly makes submissions on matters of law reform and has been consulted on draft legislation in the course of law reform in New South Wales, including in relation to reforms to Part 1B of the Civil Liability Act 2002 (NSW) and s 249E of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) . She has appeared as an expert witness on the scope of Australian law in the Supreme Court of Canada. Her work has been cited by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the New South Wales Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Supreme Court of South Australia.
