BIO

Andrew McDonagh received his PhD from the Australian National University in 1999 for work investigating the nonlinear optical properties of some transition metal acetylide complexes. He then took up a post-doctoral research position at the University of Bristol, UK. He was awarded a UNSW Vice-chancellor Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of New South Wales in 2001 and was made lecturer in 2002. He joined UTS in 2003 as a lecturer in chemistry. He is currently Professor and Discipline Lead (Chemistry) in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.

He has expertise in the design and synthesis of functional molecules together with experience in the construction of nanoparticles. His projects involve the design and synthesis of inorganic complexes, nanoparticles, and light-responsive molecular structures.
