Professor Andrew Mowbray AM is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).

Andrew joined UTS  (then NSWIT) in 1986. He was Associate Dean of the Faculty from 1998-2005 and has served on a range of senior University Boards and Committees. He was appointed Professor of Law and Information Technology in 2003.

Professor Mowbray co-founded the Australasian Legal Information Institute in 1995. He has been a principal software author and technical director and is currently AustLII Co-Director and Executive Director of AustLII Foundation Limited.

AustLII is a founding member of the international Free Access to Law Movement which seeks to promote free access to law in over 100 countries.

Professor Mowbray was awarded the Justice Medal from the NSW Law and Justice Foundation in 2014. He was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law in 2017 and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2025 Australia Day Honours.
