BIO

Benjamin Balzer joined UTS in July 2016 as a Postdoc. Prior to joining UTS, Benjamin completed his PhD at the University of Mannheim in Germany. He is an applied microeconomic theorist who uses methods from mechanism design, information design and game theory to study topics ranging from auctions, out-of-court settlement mechanisms (law and economics), contests and industrial organization. In particular, he has made contributions to three different areas of microeconomic theory: (i) auction with behavioral bidders, (ii) bidder-led collusion in auctions, and (iii) out-of-court settlement mechanisms (law and economics).
