TEACHING AND SUPERVISION
Bettina's approach to curriculum design centres on equity, critical reflection and evidence-informed iteration. Her subject development work is grounded in the belief that practical production skill should serve as an avenue to expand students' capacity to think critically about the tools, processes and creative decisions they engage with, rather than being an end in itself. This is evident in her development of Exploring Media Arts, recognised nationally with the 2025 ASPERA Screen Production Teaching Award for pedagogical innovations addressing equity barriers in screen production education, and in her 2026 design and delivery of Creative Production: Sound and Moving Image, a new cross-disciplinary first-year core subject built to bring together students from three distinct production disciplines within a shared creative framework.
Bettina treats subject delivery as an ongoing, evidence-based design process. Her practice includes systematic use of early and end-of-session student feedback, moderated assessment processes, and formal subject review documentation to identify structural drivers of student experience and to propose concrete, resourced improvements for future iterations. She holds Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and currently serves as Responsible Academic Officer for Academic Integrity, bringing particular attention to assessment design that supports genuine learning and authentic engagement over compliance-based verification.
