A/Prof Donovan is an Al & Val Rosenstrauss Fellow, Respiratory Pharmacologist, and Group leader of the ImmunoPharmacology Research Group (IPRG) in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney. Her research involves a multidisciplinary approach to studying lung diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung cancer, with a particular focus on the immune interactions between the lung and gut that influence disease development and progression.
A/Prof Donovan’s expertise lies in the development and application of unique and novel mouse models of allergen exposure, environmental exposures, infections, fibrosis, and carcinogen exposure to identify novel therapeutic targets for lung diseases. Her research utilises functional assessments, including whole lung mechanics (murine spirometry) and precision-cut lung slices, alongside molecular techniques (qPCR/RNA-seq, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry).
