BIO

Dr Christopher Bailey is an expert in optical spectroscopy and microscopy methods for applied physics, materials science, and nanotechnology. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UTS and part of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology (QUBIC), where he is investigating biological applications of quantum spectroscopy and microscopy with undetected photons.

As a researcher at the University of Sydney and UNSW (ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science), he used magnetic resonance and magneto-optical techniques to investigate spin physics of 2D materials and novel bio-inspired materials. He has extensive experience in the characterisation of next-generation solar cell and optoelectronic materials, the focus of his PhD at the University of Southampton (2019) within the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in New and Sustainable Photovoltaics.

His research has featured in leading journals including Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, and Advanced Energy Materials. He is a keen educator who has contributed to over ten units of study across three world top-100 universities, and holds an Associate Fellowship from Advance HE (AFHEA) in recognition of his teaching.
