FUNDED RESEARCH
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
This is a graduate attribute for Universities, but how is it embedded in our teaching? Through the lens of civics and citizenship education, we want to establish whether embedding social responsibility into science curricula is valued by academics; how they conceive of a socially responsible graduate, and how they would or actually undertake to embed social responsibility into their teaching
BIOSCIENCE/FOUNDATIONAL TEACHING
Bioscience is an all-inclusive phrase for the science component of several health professional training courses. Foundation subjects are usually taught in the first year of a program serving as requisites for more advanced subjects. I remained concerned about how we reconcile supporting student transitions with the predominant massification of tertiary education. Another thing that continues to interest me is what are the best practices to support student learning in this area, as traditionally, many students of the health professions struggle when it comes to biosciences.
