Dr Elizabeth Brogan is a lecturer at UTS and a registered nurse with over 21 years of nursing experience; 20 years have been in the speciality of perioperative nursing with 7 as a nurse educator. Elizabeth has extensive experience in curriculum development and implementation in both the clinical and tertiary settings and currently coordinates undergraduate and post-graduate perioperative nursing subjects. Elizabeth has affiliations with Fiji National University in curriculum development and coordination of the inaugural 2024 Graduate Diploma of Nursing: Perioperative.

Elizabeth’s PhD research explored the diet and physical activity behaviours of new graduate nurses, along with the development of a workplace health promotion intervention to support new graduates to develop healthy behaviours from career commencement. Elizabeth’s PhD research included the development and implementation of the Start Healthy & Stay Healthy: A Workplace Health Promotion Intervention Targeting New Graduate Nurses Eating and Physical Activity Behaviours during their Transition Year of Practice. The aim of the program is to establish a workplace health promotion program which provides New Graduate Nurses with the skills and knowledge to adopt or maintain healthy eating and physical activity behaviours by increasing their capability, opportunity, and motivation during their first year of clinical practice.

Additional research interests and projects of Elizabeth’s the dietary and physical activity behaviours of new graduate nurses, implementation science and the development of workplace health promotion interventions. Along with attitudes of undergraduate nursing students towards people with obesity. Elizabeth presents regularly at multiple professional conferences and has published a book chapter and journal articles
