BIO

I am an Associate Lecturer in the School of Life Sciences at the University of Technology Sydney.

My PhD research focused on the biogeochemical cycling of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) and its transformation and uptake by microbial communities, contributing to a better understanding of marine sulphur cycling and its role in ocean–atmosphere interactions.

Before my PhD, I completed a master’s degree in chemometrics and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Barcelona, Spain. I have worked on a range of research projects, including the study of PAHs in marine waters in Spain, the development of nematodes as biopesticides in Portugal, and the creation of environmentally friendly paints for maritime structures in Malta.

My work integrates scientific research and education. I am deeply interested in higher education research, particularly in how innovative teaching can enhance student learning, engagement, and career readiness in STEM disciplines.

Moreover, I have participated in fieldwork that has ranged from local ecosystems to an expedition to Antarctica.
