TEACHING AND SUPERVISION
Hélène has a track record of leading and implementing significant innovation in programs, curriculum and approaches to learning. Her connection with both research and industry enables her to anticipate future trends across sectors and design courses accordingly, This involves maintaining a certain focus on discipline-based knowledge but also integrating core digital competencies, soft skills and trans-disciplinary insights so that students may understand the technology that will come to underpin the developments in their sector and have the capacity to lead effectively within that context. Therefore, practice-based pedagogies, such as action learning, problem-based learning, flipped classrooms, work integrated projects, learning community projects, and simulations, have come to feature in programs. Hélène has developed programs for, and teaching to, a hugely diverse student community both in Australia and Europe. This has focused her attention on the need to integrate a broad range of learning and teaching approaches, with particular emphasis on peer-to-peer and reflective learning opportunities. Hélène has been appointed to various leadership roles on teaching and learning committees, faculty mentoring, and postgraduate degree governance committees. She has been the recipient of various teaching awards such as a Vice-Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence, (2013), numerous Dean's Awards, appointments to external teaching and learning review panels, and project stewardship for international accreditation processes.
