Dr Isobel Crealy is a lecturer in Education. She has taught in both school and university settings in Australia and the United Kingdom, including intensive English contexts supporting newly arrived students. She has also worked with the NSW Department of Education as a Leadership Advisor, contributing to the design and delivery of system-wide professional learning and teacher development initiatives. She currently teaches subjects relating to EAL/D, language and literacy, and teacher education.

Isobel’s research examines how education shapes settlement, citizenship, and belonging for culturally and linguistically diverse learners, particularly those from refugee backgrounds. Her interdisciplinary work spans applied linguistics, education, and migration studies, focusing on how language and schooling mediate access to participation and opportunity. She is the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship on international best practice in language and cultural inclusion for adolescent refugee students, and has published on translingual approaches to teaching in diverse classrooms.
