IMPACT SUMMARY
As a research scientist, Jay has made pioneering contributions to the research of communications antenna systems including reconfigurable antennas, hybrid arrays, reflectarrays/transmitarrays, base station antennas and, most recently, analogue multibeam antennas. The hybrid antenna array technology and base station antenna technology have been adopted in 5G systems.
As a research leader, Jay has delivered a highly influential multiple award-winning project at CSIRO, Ngara Rural Wireless Broadband. The technology has been successfully commercialized in Australia and US. At UTS, Jay has aslo delivered the ground-breaking project, Smart Flood and Sensing Intelligence, to the NSW government together with NSW SES and TPG Telecom. The technology has attracted both national and international media interest. The technology is being further developed togeter with TPG Telecom. The deployment of the technology will enhance the resilience of Australian communities and industry against climate change, and save lives and properties.
Jay played a pivotal role in creating the NSW Connectivity Innovation Network that brought governments, industry and universities together to tackle connectivity challenges in NSW and Australia.
