BIO
Jeremy has been working at UTS since 2018. During this time he has largely been involved in subject design. This has included working with Sydney Smart Technical, a collaboration with Northeastern University in Quinhuangdao in China. In this project, students worked in small groups to provide solutions for engineering problems. He also redesigned Communications for IT professionals, a subject with 800 students to make it focus more on student communication and team work.
Jeremy is responsible for two subjects that reflect on students' experiences in their internship. Through these subjects he ensures that students learn through reflecting on their experiences. This in turn helps students to establish their identity as an engineer. This is particularly important as for many students, as these are the final subjects before looking for employment.
A particular research interest is investigating the factors that facilitate successful groups and how these can be scaffolded to improve student experience and to ensure that all students feel comfortable participating. In addition, he is also attempting to define what makes peer review groups successful and what preconditions need to be put in place to ensure that these conditions are met.
Previously, Jeremy worked as Area Manager for three centres delivering the Adult Migrant English Program in Sydney. This program gives migrants the language skills for settlement and employment in a new country. He also managed a project developing English Language resources for year 7 students throughout Cambodia as well as teaching for 9 years in Indonesia.
Jeremy has had 4 textbooks published worldwide on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
