FUNDED RESEARCH
Dr. Yu's research interests encompass the following areas:
Human-machine Interaction: Exploring the factors that influence human behaviors, subjective perceptions, and decision-making. Investigating how machine characteristics can impact human decision patterns.
Cognitive performance examination: Examining the cognitive load experienced during learning processes. Exploring methods for real-time measurement of cognitive load and investigating techniques to achieve this.
Trust between humans and machines: Understanding the essential characteristics of automation (algorithms, robots, machines, etc.) for effective collaboration with humans. Identifying the optimal machine teammate based on specific requirements.
Cybersecurity: Developing predictive models to anticipate human decision-making, particularly in scenarios like clicking links in phishing emails. Designing warning systems to alert users when necessary. Quantifying susceptibility to phishing attacks and exploring strategies to correct risky human behaviors.
Health data analytics: Utilizing large datasets containing diverse medical and health records to create comprehensive representations of typical patient journeys. Employing analytics techniques to gain insights and extract valuable information from the data. He has led different research initiatives within the healthcare sector and received support from NSW Health for a DHCRC project focused on analysing the patient journey.
