Lifeng Mu is a Visiting Scholar in the School of Electrical, Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Management at SILC Business School, Shanghai University.

His research lies at the intersection of operations research, artificial intelligence, business analytics, and mathematical optimization, with a particular focus on solving complex decision-making problems in transportation and railway systems, logistics and supply chains, e-commerce platforms, production planning, and industrial operations.

He received his PhD in Systems Engineering from Northeastern University, China. Prior to joining Shanghai University, he held research and technical positions at the IBM China Development Laboratory as an Advisory IT Specialist and Optimization Expert, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Research Associate, and at the Shenyang Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a systems analyst and engineer. These experiences have shaped a research profile that combines rigorous mathematical modelling and algorithm development with large-scale industrial applications.

He has served as Principal Investigator on competitive research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Education of China. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in journals including the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Knowledge-Based Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, and Electronic Commerce Research. He also serves as a proposal reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and as a peer reviewer for international journals.
