TEACHING AND SUPERVISION

I am an academic leader in midwifery education, serving as Course Director of the Graduate Diploma in Midwifery (GDM) and coordinating subjects across both the GDM and Bachelor of Midwifery. I have expanded enrolments to meet workforce demand, embedded the UTS model of learning, and consistently achieved strong student satisfaction scores. My leadership includes guiding the rapid transition to online learning during COVID-19, developing innovative case-based assessments, and designing new curriculum subjects that foster high engagement and cultural responsiveness.

    Reaccreditation of the Graduate Diploma in Midwifery. This is a pre-registration midwifery degree program which meets the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) standards. This course is designed to meet the graduate needs of registered nurses wishing to gain registration to practise in the area of midwifery. It provides a broad theoretical and clinical study in midwifery, and includes a discussion of professional, sociopolitical and ethico-legal issues related to the family, and research skills that enhance midwifery practice and interpersonal processes. Students undertake concurrent employment as a midwifery student in an accredited midwifery unit.

    Reaccreditation with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). This is an undergraduate pre-registration Bachelor degree. This course incorporates midwifery theory, science and clinical practice in a range of health facilities. Graduates of the course are competent midwives who have the skills, knowledge and confidence to practise midwifery according to the international definition of the role and scope of practice of the midwife.
