BIO

Professor Margaret Murphy is a nationally recognised emergency nurse clinician researcher with over 38 years of senior clinical leadership experience. She recently commenced the role of Professor of Emergency and Critical Care (Conjoint) at the University of Technology Sydney and Northern Sydney Local Health District. Previously, she served as Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 3) and Co-Director of Research at Westmead Hospital Emergency Department — one of Sydney's busiest tertiary referral centres. She holds a Fellowship of the College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (FCENA, 2024), is a member of the NSW Ministerial Emergency Care Taskforce and co lead of the Clinical Academic Group with Sydney Health Partners. Her career spans clinical practice, implementation science, health policy, education, and research, with qualifications in critical care, mental health, change management, and a PhD from the University of Sydney (2019). She has a rapidly rising research trajectory that is exemplary relative to her opportunity as a clinician researcher embedded in a full-time clinical role.
