BIO
Matthew is a Chancellor's Research Fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He is an inter-disciplinary scholar, working across environmental history, political economy and critical geography. His research is concerned with socio-natural relations across space and time, especially as they concern changing energy regimes. His current project considers the way the history of energy in Australia might inform and contribute to contemporary energy policy.
Previously, Matthew was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Climate & Energy Program at the Australia Institute. He has taught at The University of Sydney, the Australian National University and the University of New England. He completed his PhD in Political Economy at The University of Sydney, and has published in Competition & Change, Review of International Political Economy and Journal of Agrarian Change.
