BIO

Mun Yee is the current Course Director of all Primary Teacher Education programs at UTS. Mun Yee has extensive experience and lectures in both primary and secondary mathematics education in Australia and Hong Kong. She is a productive high-performing education researcher with a broad range of contributions that are captured under the keywords of ‘mathematics education’, ‘diverse linguistic background’ and ‘teacher professional development’. While continuing to contribute to these overarching fields, her contributions have expanded to become more numerous and recognized in the areas of knowledge for mathematics teaching, mathematics teachers’ learning in different professional development activities, primary school students’ mathematics understanding of decimal numbers and STEM education. Her research is qualitative in nature but also incorporates quantitative data when necessary. Over her decade of being a researcher, she has embraced a number of new methodologies in social sciences research, which has afforded her opportunities to pioneer the use of innovative new methods, such as eye-tracking approach and engineering design approach, and analyse data using difference conceptual frameworks/lens, such as Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) and Expansive Learning.
