ProfMurray Elder

I am a pure mathematician and theoretical computer scientist working at the University of Technology Sydney. My preferred pronouns are he and him.

My research interests include geometric group theory, complexity theory, automata and formal language theory, enumerative combinatorics, pattern-avoiding permutations (see https://sites.google.com/site/melderau/ for more information).

I am a managing editor for the journal of Groups, Complexity, Cryptology (https://gcc.episciences.org/page/about-jgcc), incoming President of the Australian Mathematical Society (President 2027-2028), and previously served on the Australian Research Council College of Experts (2019-2021), and the Council of the Australian Mathematical Society (2021-2023).
