TEACHING AND SUPERVISION
I have coordinated and lectured sixteen subjects across nine institutions at foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, including as the O'Donnell Visiting Educator at Whitman College in the United States. This includes designing six new subjects and the major revision of five others. Initially drawing on my experience as an award-winning "pioneer" of environmental, social and governance risk analysis in the pension and sovereign wealth fund industry, in 2008 I helped develop Australia's first graduate proigram accredited by the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Management Education at La Trobe University. Much of my teaching journey since has had an intercultural dimension, both internationally and at the cultural interface of Indigenous-Settler relations to lands and waters that drew, in part, from my earlier work on the extractive industries. Throughout this time I have developed a passion for interdisciplinary team teaching across the HASS-STEMM divide, as well as engaging external research partners such as affected communities and industry in the classroom as part of broader efforts to decolonise my teaching and learning.
Upon joining UTS, I have been tasked with coordinating 52673 Political Ideas and Change in 2025 (for James Goodman whilst Acting Head of School), and designing and coordinating 54456 Indigenous Creative Practices which launched in 2026 (for Graham Akhurst as Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Indigenous Knowledges). In addition, I have also been invited to deliver several guest lectures relating to my research, including in 52672 Comparing Indigenous Histories and Politics (for Frances Grant) and 52673 Political Ideas and Change (for Lai-Ha Chan and Lucy Fiske) at UTS, and cross-institutionally in the Nuclear Engineering core subject ARTS3100 Science, Technology and Responsibility: Ethics and the Nuclear Age at UNSW (for Matthew Kearnes). In 2025 my teaching experience and expertise was internationally accredited at Fellowship level by AdvanceHE (FHEA).
