Dr Natalie Cummins is Course Director of the Master of Human Resource Management at the University of Technology Sydney and an academic specialising in strategic human resource management, leadership, organisational culture and business storytelling.

Her work bridges academic research and contemporary debates on leadership, work and the future of organisations. She is a regular contributor to international and Australian media and professional publications, with commentary appearing in HR Executive (US), HR Director (UK), HR Leader (Australia), HR.com, Times Higher Education and Faculty Focus.

Her current work examines how storytelling shapes organisational culture, leadership influence and employee engagement, and how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence can amplify rather than replace human voice in organisations. She also researches workplace burnout and loneliness as organisational and governance issues requiring structural, rather than solely individual, responses.

Natalie has more than two decades of experience in university teaching across human resource management, strategic human resource management, leadership, organisational behaviour, business and social impact, management control and ethics. Her teaching and educational innovation have been recognised through national and university teaching awards.

She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Monash University, completed with an Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship, as well as a Master of Business (Research) and Bachelor of Business. In 2026, she was admitted as a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA), recognising her professional practice and contribution to higher education. 

Her broader research encompasses management systems, performance measurement, benchmarking and innovative approaches to business education.
