BIO
Dr. Purna B. Samal is a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Engineer at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) with experience as a Lead Antenna and RF Engineer. His research focuses on the design and development of advanced RF and antenna systems for wearable, space, and drone communication applications.
Alongside his engineering expertise, he brings over a decade of academic experience as a Lecturer and Programme Leader. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in advanced antenna design. His contributions have been recognised through international scholarships, research grants, and awards. Several of his works have been featured in IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. He was also part of the winning team for the 2025 Australian Space Award – Academic Research Team of the Year, serving as one of the lead RF engineers. In addition, he actively reviews for leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation and IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters.
Dr. Samal is passionate about advancing RF and antenna technologies that bridge the gap between research innovation and practical applications.
