Raj Calisa is a technology leader and software engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in commercial R&D, software product development and research translation. As Principal Delivery Manager for Software Engineering at UTS Rapido, the University of Technology Sydney’s industry-facing R&D innovation unit, he leads software engineering and advanced technology collaborations across defence, government and private industry sectors.

Raj specialises in applied software development, machine learning, computer vision and AI-enabled systems, working closely with industry partners to translate complex technical challenges into practical, real-world solutions. His work spans full stack software development, technical architecture, research commercialisation and multidisciplinary project leadership.

Prior to joining UTS, Raj worked at Canon developing and commercialising advanced imaging technologies using image processing, computer vision and machine learning techniques for global products and applications.

At UTS Rapido, Raj has led and delivered a range of collaborative R&D initiatives, including software and mission system projects for defence and maritime applications. His work focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry through applied engineering, research translation and technology innovation.
