BIO
Samantha joined University of Technology Sydney on a full-time academic basis in 2017 bringing with her experience as a critical care Registered Nurse, psychotherapist and clinical researcher. She has built her academic and research profile through teaching, service and engagement, establishing strong relationships within the university (cross-discipline), industry and community partners. The philosophy underpinning her teaching and research activities originates from psychologist, Carl Rogers: unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence. Using this philosophy, Samantha has made a significant contribution to the profession in nursing and overall healthcare professional wellbeing through education and research.
Samantha is the Chair of the Faculty of Health Low Risk Ethics Panel and holds other leadership roles such the School Honours Coordinator. She is also an active member of the Faculty of Health Research Committee, School of Nursing and Midwifery Research Committee and the School of Nursing and Midwifery Teaching and Learning Committee.
Samantha is Deputy Chair of the Sydney/NSW Region of the Australian College of Nursing and an active member of the NSW Branch Committee of the Australian Critical Care College of Nurses.
Samantha is passionate about the wellbeing and education of healthcare professionals, consumers and members of the community and since the emergence of COVID-19 has regularly facilitated wellbeing sessions for nurses across Australia.
Since 2017 Samantha has been awarded a total of $386,000 in external funding and $54,000 in internal university funding. She is experienced at leading large research and education projects partnering with industry partners such as Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and NSW Health.
