Dr Sascha Callaghan researches and teaches health law, bioethics and technology in the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology Sydney. Her research spans the legal and ethical dimensions of mental health and cognitive impairment, women’s health and reproductive medicine, emerging medical technologies, and human rights in health care. She has particular expertise in mental capacity, consent and health care decision-making, and has contributed to legislative reviews, policy development and professional guidance in these areas.

Sascha has extensive experience in law, ethics and clinical practice. She is the lawyer member of the Ethics of Clinical Practice Committee for Sydney Local Health District and has held advisory roles with professional and community organisations, including the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Australasian Birth Trauma Association.
