Dr Simone Rehn is a Research Associate at the Faculty of Science, UTS. She is interested in the impact of eating patterns on reward learning and motivation. Her research uses animal models, systematic reviews and meta-analyses to examine the relationship between binge eating and behavioural, physiological and neurobiological changes.

In 2017, Simone graduated with Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from the University of Sydney. She was then awarded a Research Training Stipend to complete her PhD on the causes and consequences of binge eating from 2018 to 2023. During this time, Simone obtained three rounds of funding from the School of Psychology for experimental work from 2019 to 2022. She was also awarded the School of Psychology's Publication Prize (2022) for her review titled, "A systematic review and meta-analysis of animal models of binge eating - Part 1: Definitions and food/drink intake outcomes".

Simone has presented her research at multiple meetings held by the Australian Learning Group, Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society, the British Feeding and Drinking Society and the Spanish Society for Comparative Psychology. Simone has received grants from the Universities Australia Germany collaboration scheme to collaborate with Dr Cathalijn Leenaars at Hanover Medical School in 2020 on conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses in animal models. She also received a Study Visit Grant from the Experimental Psychology Society to conduct collaborative research with Dominic Dwyer at Cardiff University in 2022.
