Dr Steve Bakoss is Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), where following eight years of experience working in industry as a design, construction and consulting engineer he has taught structural engineering for 30 years.

Professor Bakoss has held a number of senior positions at UTS, which included:


Head of the School of Civil Engineering (1988-93)

Alternate Dean, Faculty of Engineering (1991-1993)

Elected Member to the Governing Council of the University of Technology, (2002-2006).


Professor Bakoss has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Technology Park Innovations Ltd, (2000-2001) which manages the National Innovation Centre and provides the Business Incubator Program for start-up companies from its four constituent universities: the University of Sydney; the University of NSW; the University of Technology, Sydney and the Australian National University to expedite the commercialisation of their research findings.
