BIO

Dr. Tanmoy Das is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Civil, Environmental and Sociotechnical Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is currently involved in the project “Reducing Trauma and Improving Safety on Rural and Regional Roads: Sustainable Road Sealing Innovation towards Net Zero," funded by the Australian government. He completed his Ph.D. from the Civil Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in 2025 and also served as a Project Research Associate in the same department. His doctoral research focused on the Coupled Analysis of Earthquake and Rainfall-Induced Landslides Considering Parametric Uncertainties. 

 

Part of his Ph.D. work has been included in the official Technical Report of the Kerala State Planning Board and the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) on the 2019 extreme rainfall-induced floods and landslides. His Ph.D. thesis has been awarded first position in the “Best Ph.D. thesis ranking in the Disaster Studies” initiative of NIDM, Ministry of Home Affairs, Gov. of India, for the financial year 2025–26. His M.Tech. research at IIT Patna on probabilistic seismic stability analysis of rock-fill tailing dams earned the “Best MTech Project Award." He has publications in several reputable peer-reviewed journals (Scientific Reports, Engineering Geology, Natural Hazards, Natural Hazards Review, Soils and Foundations, Indian Geotechnical Journal) and received the “Best Paper Award in Ground Improvement” from the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) in 2024. Further, he received the prestigious travel grant awarded by AGS, Australia; IoE, IIT Bombay; and SERB, DST, Govt. of India, to attend international conferences. He is an active reviewer for various ASCE, Elsevier, and Springer journals. Furthermore, he has made significant contributions to various prestigious national and international industrial projects and collaborative work during his PhD and Postdoc, with outcomes published in Scientific Reports, Indian Geotechnical Journal, and ASCE Geotechnical Special Publication.
