Catherine is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at UTS, and completed her PhD at the University of Adelaide on insolvency practitioner regulation under the Insolvency Law Reform Act 2016 (Cth) where she was awarded the University Doctoral Research Medal. Catherine is the General Editor of the Insolvency Law Bulletin (LexisNexis) and Author of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law Commentary (CCH Wolters Kluwer). She has published and presented internationally and appeared as a witness at the Parliamentary Joint Committee Inquiry into Corporate Insolvency in Australia. In 2026, Catherine was appointed as a member of the Bankruptcy Trustee Registration and Disciplinary Committee. Since 2019 to current, Catherine has been the Chief Investigator and co-investigator of funded research projects for the Commonwealth Government on consumer repeat bankruptcy, the Bankruptcy Framework, and contemporary insolvency practitioner regulation. She is a member of the Law Council of Australia Business Law - Insolvency and Restructuring Committee (NSW/ACT).
Catherine is passionate about the student learning experience and legal education, and is the Co-chair of the Faculty of Law Equity and Diversity Committee. Catherine is the co-author of Understanding Company Law (Thomson Reuters), and thoroughly enjoys teaching company law to both post-graduate and undergraduate students.
