BIO
Chris has over 20 years of industry experience ranging from software engineering; network design, security and management; IT architecture and project leading. His particular industry expertise is in enterprise application integration and distributed computing using Python, Java, XML, web services and mobile technologies. Chris co-authored a book VisualAge and Transaction Processing in a Client/Server Environment and other whitepapers while working for IBM last century. Chris awards include an IBM Excellence award, an ISSC CEO award and an UTS faculty teaching excellence award.
Current role is Director of Education for the faculty of Engineering and IT, including working with various Engineering/IT schools as an advisor on subject/study package and course maintenance, overseeing the implementation of curriculum changes and new courses, and representing the faculty at various university committees.
Chris is also the Chair of the Faculty Courses Committee which meets throughout the year to review and endorse curriculum changes and additions such as the creation of new subjects, majors and courses; and is the chair of the Faculty Quality Committee, overseeing the feedback and quality standards of the teaching and learning portfolio.
Current research interest is in educational data science including learning analytics, educational recommender systems, educational data mining and data visualisation especially when applied to the undergraduate engineering and IT programs.
