Colin Griffith is one of Australia’s leading exponents of innovation and the development of digital solutions for business, government and cultural sectors. For over thirty years he has led many major transformation and reform programs working as a senior executive in a variety of research, consulting, media and government positions.

Colin now works as a consultant and adviser to a range of projects related to sustainable development, open data and innovation in the information and culture sectors.  He is also affiliated with the UTS Data Science Institute, advising on how to apply data science for broader social, economic and environmental benefit. He has a particular interest in the intersection between data science with humanities and social sciences, as well as how to grow productive, innovative and responsible industries.

Colin has held senior leadership roles with CSIRO with the Australian Centre for Broadband Innovation (ACBI) that developed a range of new broadband enabled health, aged care, agricultural and business services, and later with Data61 championing innovation through data sharing, digital strategies and data science. This included advising and supporting a range of spin-outs and startups related to agriculture, environment, energy, healthcare, regtech and student work placements.

He was also responsible for establishing the popular and awarding winning ABC Online while managing the ABC’s new media services during the 1990s and responsible for developing the NSW Government’s broadband, open data and government service reform initiatives during the 2000s.
