BIO

Dr Didar Zowghi is an Emeritus Professor at UTS. She joined UTS in 2000 and from 2008 to 2021 she was a full professor of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. During her tenure as a full-time academic staff at UTS, she held many leadership roles: Deputy Dean of Graduate Research School, Director of Women in Engineering and Information Technology, Associate Dean of Research, Head of the Department of Software Engineering, and the Director of the UTS research centre for Human-Centred Technology Design. In January 2022 she joined CSIRO's Data61 as Senior Principal Research Scientist to lead Software Engineering for Responsible AI and Diversity & Inclusion in Artificial Intelligence research.

Before becoming a full-time academic, she worked in the software industry both in the UK and Australia as a programmer, software engineer, systems analyst, consultant, and project manager.

Professor Zowghi is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Software, and Requirements Engineering journal. She has supervised many MSc and PhD research students to completion in Australia and abroad, and has received large competitive research grants, including ARC Discovery and Linkage grants and DEST International Science Linkage grants with China.
