About ECAN

• The UTS Early Career Academic Network (ECAN) is a community of early career academics, including Level A to C, from across every faculty, centre and unit at the University.
  
  
• Membership is voluntary and open to anyone who identifies as an early career academic.

Our Purpose

•  ECAN exists to connect, support and advocate for early career academics at UTS as they establish their research, teaching and leadership careers.

Our mission

•  The early career stage is recognised as one of the most challenging periods of an academic career, and it is often when colleagues can feel  isolated - even within their own discipline.
  
  
•  ECAN brings early career academics together across those disciplinary lines to build a peer community, share what we are each learning, and open doors that are easier to open together than alone.
  
  
• We run a programme shaped by what our members tell us they need, and we carry the collective experience of early career academics into conversations with University leadership.
