BIO
Hannah Pham is a Lecturer in the Accounting Discipline Group at the UTS Business School, which she joined in 2016. She coordinates and teaches Business Analytics Foundations, a core subject in the Master of Business Analytics, and Cost Management and Analysis, a core management accounting subject in the Master of Professional Accounting.
Hannah received her Master of Business in Accounting and Finance from the University of Technology Sydney in 2010 (Dean’s Merit) and completed her PhD in Accounting at UTS in 2016.
With a background spanning Chemical Engineering and Accounting, Hannah brings experience working across both natural and social science research domains. Her research focuses on management control, performance measurement systems, and environmental accounting, particularly within organisations pursuing both economic and environmental sustainability. She has applied management control concepts across diverse sectors, including agribusiness, early‑stage ventures, government, not‑for‑profit organisations, and biotechnology industries.
Hannah’s methodological expertise includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches, such as field studies, simulation modelling, and sustainability benchmarking. From 2011 to 2016, she contributed to the CRDC‑funded project “Australian Cotton: Accounting for value chain sustainability and competitive advantage” ($372,875), where she examined integrated economic and environmental management systems for Australian cotton growers.
Hannah is currently a Chief Investigator on the UTS–CRDC Project (2025–2027), “An evaluation of cotton fibre waste processing and composting alternatives: Comparison of business models, GHG emissions and commercialisation opportunities.” This externally funded project ($533,454) involves a transdisciplinary team including Prof. Christopher Bajada, Dr. Paul Brown, Dr. Yujie Liang, Dr. Oliver Knox, A/Prof. Brad Murray, and Dr. Megan Murray.
Beyond her cotton‑industry research, Hannah has contributed to interdisciplinary initiatives such as the Bio‑Economy (Algae) Project and the NSW Health ABF Costing Project led by Professor Prabhu Sivabalan.
