BIO

Sadnan Sakib is a PhD candidate at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), currently working on an Australian Research Council (ARC)-focused project aimed at strengthening power system resilience under severe weather conditions.

His research interests centre on renewable energy integration, power system resilience, weak-grid stability, inverter-based resources, and the development of reliable, resilient, and low-carbon energy systems. Prior to commencing his PhD, he completed a Master of Engineering (Research) in Electrical Engineering at UTS, with a thesis titled “Renewable Energy Zones Integration in Weak Transmission Networks. His master’s research focused on the role of battery energy storage systems (BESSs), grid-forming and grid-following inverters, and severity-aware BESS control strategies in strengthening Australia’s Renewable Energy Zones.

During his Master of Engineering (Research), he published four first-author research papers in top-tier journals, contributing to the areas of BESS applications, inverter technologies, weak-grid integration, and renewable energy transition.

His technical expertise includes power system planning and operation, stability analysis, dynamic simulation, inverter-based resources, BESS applications, and renewable grid integration. He is proficient in PSS/E integrated with Python for power system modelling, simulation, and analysis.

Sadnan earned his Bachelor’s degree with honours in Electrical-Electronics Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where he was recognised with the prestigious Dean’s Award for academic excellence, reflecting his strong academic performance and early contribution to engineering research-related studies.
