BIO

Azade Falaki is a creative practice researcher and higher education teacher with expertise in film studies, cultural theory and philosophy. Alongside her research, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in screen, media, and communication studies. Azade’s research is informed by the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, particularly their concepts of rhizomatic systems, territory, and territorialisation, which help scrutinise processes of space-making and imagined geographies in ways relevant to social science fiction world-building. She is interested in how cinema represents otherness, various forms of borders, surveillance, displacement, and experiences of in-betweenness. Azade is an experienced creative practitioner in cinematic script development, screenwriting, directing, playwriting, and innovative approaches to various forms of storytelling.
