BIO
I am a PhD candidate on an Australian Government (RTP) scholarship at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where I have worked as a sessional academic and researcher. My research examines What is Trauma Informed Legal Practice and how effectively are community legal services looking after the mental health of front-line legal practitioners? (2023-2027). My advisors are Professor Teresa Libesman (UTS) Professor Allison Silink (UTS) and Distinguished Professor Nicole Watson (University of Melbourne). Before that, I finished my LLb (1st hons) in Indigenous Peoples and the Law at UTS in 2001. Since then, I have been a human rights lawyer; solicitor advocate and a litigation solicitor across the general law for 25 years. I am admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia and I have worked in private practice; for State/Territory and Commonwealth Governments; Community Legal Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services and also as a research fellow and director of research. I enjoy teaching Foundations of Law (Jurisprudence), Torts & Indigenous Peoples and the law. I have a longstanding ongoing research interest in trauma informed legal practice.
