IMPACT SUMMARY
Soroosh Danaee’s research contributes to the development of sustainable biotechnology and bioprocess solutions for resource recovery, waste valorisation, wastewater treatment and environmental remediation. His work focuses on applying biological systems, including microalgae and microbial processes, to recover value from low-grade waste streams and develop more resource-efficient and circular environmental technologies.
One application of this research is the biological recovery of copper and other critical metals from secondary and mining-impacted resources. His broader research has addressed wastewater treatment, microalgae-based resource recovery, microplastic biodegradation and bioelectrochemical technologies. By combining experimental research, process optimisation, techno-economic assessment and engineering perspectives, his work seeks to translate biological innovation into scalable and economically viable environmental technologies.
His experience across research project management, postgraduate supervision and wastewater process design further supports the translation of research outcomes toward practical and industry-relevant applications.
