BIO

Dr Anna Lidfors Lindqvist is a Senior Lecturer, educator, and researcher in the School of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney. Her work focuses on engineering education with a strong emphasis on authentic learning, applied mechanical and mechatronic systems, and industry-connected research with focus on real-world application.

Anna has played a key role in curriculum design and studio development within the school and across the faculty, contributing to a whole-of-program approach that integrates professional skills, iterative design practice, and feedback-driven learning. She has developed a range of engineering subjects and is recognised for coordinating and creating engaging studio-based learning environments that connect theory with engineering practice. Her work focuses on formative sprints, feedback literacy, authentic assessment, and project-based learning that supports the development of professional identity, student agency, and industry readiness.

Her contributions to engineering education have been recognised through several awards, including the 2023 UTS Vice-Chancellor Early Career Teaching Award, the Highly Commended Best Practice Paper Award at the 2023 Australasian Association for Engineering Education Conference for the paper “Formative Sprints to Improve Feedback, Learning, and Fidelity in Practice-Based Activities”, the 2024 AAEE Citation for Outstanding Early Career Contribution to Engineering Education, and the 2025 AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning for advancing engineering education through authentic assessment practices that build student agency, strengthen feedback literacy, and enhance professional identity and industry readiness.

Anna completed her PhD at the University of Technology Sydney, specialising in vehicle dynamics and control, while managing the collaborative Australian Technology Network Solar Car Team. Her research and consulting activities focus on applied engineering challenges, including autonomous and mechanical systems, sustainable transport technologies, and net-zero emission solutions. Her work is strongly industry-oriented, bridging the gap between engineering research, education, and practical implementation.
