TEACHING AND SUPERVISION

I am committed to engaging students in experiences that develop practical skills and deep insight. I have developed a number of simulators that enable students to explore invisible physical processes and develop a deeper understanding, especially when combined with experiment.

I have taught a range of physics subjects at different levels from first year physics to Honours, and have served as Program Director for Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials and Data Science, Biomedical Physics, and Honours. I have also contributed to the professional development of secondary school educators through the Science Teachers Association NSW.

I have successfully mentored research students at internship, Honours, Masters and Doctoral levels. My PhD students have gone onto successful careers in applied research, industry, defence, and academia.  I am currently the HDR director and RAO for the Faculty of Science.
