This research has delivered tangible and sustained benefits for the Somali Welfare and Cultural Association (SWCA), a migrant/refugee-led community organisation, and the broader communities it serves. Through a growing collaboration with SWCA, we have supported two major SWCA-led community initiatives: the Africultures Festival and the Refugee Camp in My Neighbourhood (RCIMN). Our work has strengthened internal governance, enhanced organisational sustainability, and provided evidence of social impact that has directly supported funding and strategic planning. These outcomes have also enriched university teaching and community engagement, offering real-world learning for students while amplifying the social value of SWCA’s work.
