- Algae‑based bioproducts spanning food, energy, green chemistry and high‑value bio‑manufactured products derived from both microalgae and macroalgae.
- Mass‑scale algae cultivation technologies designed to overcome key technical and commercialisation barriers within the algae‑based biotechnology sector.
- High‑efficiency photosynthetic cultivation systems for the sustainable production of specialty chemicals, toxins, cosmetic ingredients, valuable oils, foods, agricultural feeds, nutraceuticals, biologics, vaccines and small‑molecule compounds.
- Development of algal‑derived bioplastics, including both biodegradable and durable materials, with a focus on carbon storage and circular economy outcomes.
- Advanced biomanufacturing integrated with Industry 4.0 technologies, including automation, digital monitoring and data‑driven process optimisation.
- Algal phenomics using fully automated, high‑throughput screening platforms to accelerate strain selection, performance assessment and product development.
- Zero‑waste advanced biomanufacturing through integrated algal biorefinery approaches that maximise resource efficiency and value recovery.
