TEACHING AND SUPERVISION
I am committed to HDR supervision, with a particular interest in mentoring candidates from construction project management backgrounds. I have supervised one PhD student to completion; during her candidature she published nine journal papers and won the 2020 Research with Most Potential Award at the 7th Infrastructure Research and Innovation Competition in China. I have also previously co-supervised three PhD students to completion.
I teach in the UTS postgraduate Project Management program and focus on practice-oriented and research-integrated learning. My teaching uses team-based simulated projects to address real industry problems. The subjects I teach include:
15115 Advances in Project Management (Spring)
This subject builds students’ research awareness and capability, with a focus on recent developments in the discipline. It introduces the research process, summarises key trends, and draws on insights from leading scholars. Students develop skills to identify research problems and initiate research investigations in project management.
15317 Advanced Project Risk Management (Autumn)
This subject focuses on managing project risk across industry sectors. It develops students’ understanding of risk management from organisational and situational perspectives and extends their use of risk techniques. The subject emphasises risk evaluation, linking risk decisions to value delivery, and recognising opportunities under uncertainty.
15319 Project Risk, Procurement and Quality Management (Autumn and Spring)
This subject covers core competencies in risk, procurement, and quality management. It addresses risk identification, analysis, and control; procurement planning, execution, and closure; and quality planning, assurance, and control. Students complete individual and group assessments that develop critical thinking, communication, and the ability to apply tools and techniques to contextual demands in industry practice.
