Dr Meg Hibbins’ applied research focuses on event management and the visitor economy, with particular interests in music festivals and trust, the live entertainment economy, event accessibility and inclusion, servicescape environments, and regional and community development. Her PhD examined trust in Australian music festivals, and she also researches work-integrated learning, authentic assessment, industry–university collaboration and graduate employability. Her recent peer-reviewed conference outputs include Beyond the Velvet Rope: Evaluating Creative Events as Innovation Catalysts and Co-creating Events Education: Developing the Big Red Bash Teaching Case through Industry–Academic Collaboration, published in the blind peer-reviewed proceedings of the 2025 ANZALS Conference. Her current projects extend this applied research through studies of the Australian festival landscape and Cultivating Resilience: The Power of Agritourism Events, which explores how events can support sustainable regional development, stakeholder collaboration, community resilience and visitor-economy growth.
