FUNDED RESEARCH

Dr Moira Scerri research explores how emerging technologies transform service systems, with a focus on health, ageing, and chronic disease prevention. Her work sits at the intersection of service operations, inclusive design, and supply chain innovation, applying systems thinking and participatory methods to improve service productivity, integration, and user experience.

Moira’s research investigates the adoption and post-adoption of technologies such as 3D printing, digital therapeutics (AR/VR), remote monitoring, and social robots in health and aged care. She examines how these technologies reshape service relationships, enhance care delivery, and enable ageing in place.

She is recognised for her work on elder personas and is examining how trauma-informed care can be integrated with service design. She collaborates closely with communities to co-develop programs that promote independence, relational care, and digital inclusion.

Moira also leads research on service journey mapping to improve health literacy and preventative care, particularly for people living with diabetes and cardiovascular conditions. She works with partners such as Diabetes Australia, the National Heart Foundation, and the NSW Ministry of Health to improve early intervention and integrated care pathways.

Her projects span both competitive and industry-funded research, including studies on the supply chain impacts of additive manufacturing and the role of analytics in emergency departments. Across all her work, she brings a commitment to equitable service innovation and real-world impact through research.
