FUNDED RESEARCH

My program of research is designed to (a) inform, influence and improve patient outcomes; and (b) to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for healthcare students.

My research interests include: patient safety, planetary health, empathy, clinical reasoning, simulation, belongingness, and the student experience (including preparation for practice, transition and retention). I have expertise in mixed methods designs, evaluation studies, systematic reviews, cross-sectional surveys, Delphi technique, and experimental designs. I am committed to collaborative research and supporting early career researchers to achieve excellence in educational research.

I lead the Planetary Health for Nursing & Midwifery, Research and Education Collaborative, the Empathy Initiative research group, and I am the Co-convenor of the Faculty of Health Climate and Health Collaborative.

I am a member of the Editorial Board for Nurse Education Today and NursingPlus Open. I am also an International Advisory Board member for Nurse Educator and Collegian: The Australian Journal of Nursing Practice, Scholarship and Research
